New VAG models
Golf IV and Audi A3 Turbos
GTi Engineering Phase One: "Re-boost"
conversion giving an extra 30bhp
This comprises modest changes to the engine management
system with adjustment of the boost control and represents
the greatest power increase for the least financial outlay.
GTi Engineering Phase Two: "Re-boost"
conversion giving an extra 70 bhp
This conversion is a little more tricky requiring radical
changes to the electronic control software. The turbo
boost is adjusted by means of mechanical changes to the
wastegate and control pipework. With this conversion,
the output of your turbo is taken to the limit of efficient
maximum airflow possible without fitting a larger turbocharger.
GTi Engineering Phase Three: Much more
than a "Re-Boost" for proper power.
Cylinder head modifications, larger turbo, electronic
changes and an extra 110 bhp!
This conversion is not for the faint of heart. The cylinder
head and manifolds are gas-flowed and the combustion chambers
are carefully shaped to prevent any likelihood of detonation. The
head is lightly skimmed and the gasket seal strengthened.
A larger turbo with a higher air-mass flow is fitted and
the engine management system is totally re-mapped to accommodate
the changes.
Audi A4, A5, A6 and A8
BBR Interceptor 2000 is used as a basis for tuning these
vehicles. Whether the engine has 1, 4 or 12 cylinders,
this device can be fitted and the makers software enhanced
to improve performance.
The first car in this range to have the Inteceptor fitted
was the A8. A new vehicle arrived, in its wax, bound
for the Middle East, with the order to somehow improve
the power output. The standard engine management
system on these vehicles is very complex and at first
the task looked quite daunting. However, after a
long cool look, it was decided to attempt to fit our Interceptor
2000. The initial analysis of the electronics on
the new vehicle took about 50 hours and the software in
the Interceptor 2000 another 50 hours! Our electronics
division, launched into the ECU's printed circuit board
to perform the requisite delicate surgery, fitting the
inerceptor and HEY PRESTO - the job was done! The vehicle
was then tested on the rolling road to perfect the fuel
and ignition maps, a very useful extra 25 horsepower being
found.
From there, applying the technology to the lesser models,
proved to be a relative picnic! We are now able to fit
the Interceptor 2000 to the other Audi models - and they
all receive power increases by the same proportion.
Other conversion work available follows along more conventional
lines. We have a range of camshafts available, cylinder
head modifications, exhaust systems etc, and for the serious
power freaks, we are able to carry out major power conversions
right up to racing specifications. For more information
